AMD Zen 5 processor with iGPU beats an RTX 4060

According to recent leaks, AMD is about to revolutionize the market with its Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 395 processor. The latter is said to feature a Radeon RX 8060S iGPU so powerful that it could outperform an RTX 4060. If confirmed, this could be a game-changer for PC configurations.

The graphics power of an RTX 4060 in an AMD APU

According to a leak relayed by the All The Watts!! account via PCGamesN, the future Radeon RX 8060S scores an impressive 12,516 points on the 3D Mark Time Spy benchmark. This result places this integrated graphics solution well above the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060, which scores 10,620 points, but slightly below the RTX 4060 Ti with its 13,507 points.

Time Spy Score12,516 points10,620 points13,500 points
Vulkan Score (Geekbench)67,004 points63,264 points121,994 points

The relatively old Time Spy benchmark does not support some modern, resource-intensive graphics features, such as ray-tracing. As a result, the performance of the RX 8060S seems to focus mainly on rasterization, without enabling ray tracing. In this specific context, the RTX 4060 could still retain a significant advantage, not least thanks to its ray tracing capabilities.

What’s more, this leak provides no information on the hardware configuration used, limiting itself to the iGPU graphics score and CPU performance index. This leaves many questions unanswered as to actual optimization and performance in real-life conditions.

AMD plans to launch its Strix Halo range of notebook chips at CES 2025

Alongside the announcement of the Radeon RX 8060S, a recent rumor reveals that AMD plans to launch its Strix Halo line of notebook chips at CES 2025. Powered by Zen 5 cores and featuring Ryzen AI Max technology, these processors seem destined to stand out from the existing Strix Point models.

A recent Geekbench listing confirms the existence of a new integrated graphics unit, the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395, equipped with 16 cores and a 40 CU Radeon 8060S. On Geekbench’s Vulkan benchmark, this solution achieves 67,004 points, positioning itself between the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070. Although promising, this performance was obtained on a test bench and not on a final product ready for the market.
